I most knew him as the police detective who helps Brandon Lee in Rapid Fire and the very evil villain in Jean-Claude Van Damme's Sudden Death. But others revere his work as Jim Jones, in Tombstone, and Alexander Haig in Nixon. Great actor.

One of the co-leads in Southern Comfort was how I knew him best. He was also great in John Boorman's Emerald Jungle and Walter Hill's silly taco western, Extreme Prejudice. I occasionally mistook him for Michael Ironside, I guess because they co-starred alongside Nick Nolte in Extreme Prejudice - but they were a similar type of character actor, too. Excellent support men.

Powers Boothe made for an interesting Satan/Sen. Roark in Sin City.

He was absolutely bone chilling as Jim Jones.

I've heard that. I regret not having seen an episode, but it seems like something where he'd be good.
