Here's how I like to remember her: not for any movie role, but for being hilarious in real life.

And a day later, her mother, Debbie Reynolds, has also passed on.

...saying she wanted to be with her daughter. Is this a case of be careful what you ask for?

E. and I watched the HBO version of Wishful Drinking the night she died... so we'll remember her as a quirky multi-platform entertainer who just wanted a proper cup of coffee (in a proper copper coffee pot).

Her strongest impression on me was the first novel, Postcards From The Edge. I think her sense of humor works even better written than spoken.

I'm especially saddened that we lost Fisher just as she seemed to be settling securely into a new role as the brassy Jewish grandma of the Star Wars universe.

Juniper is currently reading The Princess Diarist, which is sort of Fisher's commentary on the experience of rereading her old diaries from the era of the original Star Wars shoot. I think I'll have a go at it whenever she finishes, because the bits she's read to me as they strike her fancy have been quite entertaining.
