Us.

I'm sure that some reviewers, like Scott Foy (who used to post here as The Foywonder), practically took it as a challenge to review as many of these as possible.

It taps into a really primal (though statistically low) human fear, I guess. Also this made me check, but apparently Discovery's Shark Week has been an annual thing since 1988!

When even Gary Busey getting mauled to death by a barn owl is tepid and uninteresting, you've seriously failed as a filmmaker.

I have to strenuously object to the idea that you can ever have too many stoopid shark movies. I happen to love them and doff my chapeau to the Foywonder, and every suit in the boardroom at SyFy who ever said "I think it's time for another dumb shark picture. How low can we go this time?"

I have to say that I sob into my pillow every night because I cannot seem to get hold of a copy of Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda.

Harlan Ellison, at the height of the shark craze following Jaws, opined that the reason the first fish held its breath and ran up on the beach was to get away from a much bigger fish coming at him with a mouthful of great big teeth. It may not have happened exactly that way, but the lack of landsharks must have been a huge selling point to the first land animals.

Which begs the question, why hasn't their been a Landsharks movie?

Easy plot: an ocean earthquake releases a long-extinct species of 'transitional' shark-amphibian hybrid that terrorizes the beach and tries to deliver candygrams to the unsuspecting.

Well, Hammerhead Shark Frenzy comes pretty close. So does Sand Shark and, for that matter, Snow Shark.

Or it could be a movie version of the "landshark" gag from the early days of Saturday Night Live.

I love when shark films like Raging Sharks toss in science fiction elements to shake things up.
