Today my ten year old decided to start reading Joseph Campbell's Hero with a Thousand Faces. I have never read the thing, so I am interested to hear what she has to say about it or if she even finishes.

A while back I drove our car off our steep, winding driveway into a tree. (I blame wet leaves.) Had to get the right front part of the car fixed. Not much later I was driving home and around a curve there was a huge tire in the road, with no way to avoid it. Had to get the right front part of the car fixed.

Yesterday at about 5:30 pm, I was driving down town when I suddenly realized that the guy driving behind me did not have his headlights on. Fortunately, the turnoff came right after that, thus ending what was a pretty scary drive.

I wish Facebook had a "Snopes" button.

Because the bullshit on Facebook is self-evident.

EDIT: Huh, the nannyfilter didn't pick up bullshit. What about monkeywrench?

By an interesting coincidence, the facebook post which provoked my wish for a Snopes button was a bogus story about the origin of the term "monkey wrench", claiming it had been invented by Jack Johnson, when in fact he patented an improvement to a completely different type of wrench.

So I was browsing through an In Memoriam list for 2015.

"Don't know him, don't know him, don't know- HOLY S*** LEMMY?!?"

RIP, Lemmy Kilmister, 1945-2015.

Oldest bookstore in Chattanooga is closing. (News article and video):

Not the kind of place I usually go to -- it seems to be at least half Romance novels -- but today I stopped in and got 13 books at fifty cents each.

In the last week, two different people have described me as "gets along with everyone". I now fail at curmudgeoning.

Sounds like you need a role model who you can emulate in being a regular curmudgeon. Here's a blog for you to read:

I wish it had a 'people, don't share this image, it's intentionally wrong so you'll share it and say how wrong it is, and then you'll be giving the originator a captive audience to advertise his new CD' button.
