Apocalyptic Feasting by Brain Drill. Having a huge drill shoved into your ears is a fair approximation of what listening to this band is like, so the name is very apt.

In the car I'm working on the Big Finish Doctor Who, Eye of the Scorpion. It's a historical set in ancient Egypt. Halfway in, and pretty good so far, although very light on the Doctor. Peri is very much up front in this one.

'No Stone Unturned' by 76% Uncertain. My current favorite song and another example of a band I wanted to hear more of for years and just never got around to. More fool me. Really great melodic hardcore from Connecticut.

Death Breath, "Cthulhu Fthagn!" It's the exclamation point that made me listen. Followed that up with a lot of old Annette Funicello beach songs. It's been a weird day.

Awesomely fun calypso dance song and as dirty as any song ever sung by any pop artist ever.

It is. Does she end up being a companion for a while? She and Peri make a good team. And I'm glad Peri gets some more attention. I always liked her as a companion, and it seems like she gets to do a little more in the audios. Even if she was first and foremost eye candy, she's an archaeologist's daughter. Some of that must have rubbed off since she accompanied her dad on expeditions.

Initially I read that as Eminem, and was mildly freaked out.

As long as Eminem gets shot by a Dalek, I'm okay with it.

Went Big Lots, ran across a DVD copy of Mad Magazine Presents Up The Academy, then after re-watching the film for the first time in probably 20 years, broke out my ancient vinyl of the soundtrack, transfered it to mp3s, and shared it on my music sharing blog....

The one track that always stands out for me on that OST is Sammy Hagar's "Bad Reputation"...I'm a HUGE Red Rocker fan, and have been for years (yes, I'm one of those blasphemous "Van Hagar" guys who prefer that incarnation of the band as opposed to Van Halen), even back to his stuff with Montrose. Plus, "Bad Reputation" was one of the first Hagar tunes I learned as a kid playin' gee-tar, and became a staple of many a sets playing bars and small clubs throughout my days of doin' that sorta thing. The damn song is just incredibly hooky...what can I say?

Crooked Still's new release Some Strange Country continues to get better with each pass.

What do I listen to at work when I have a ton of shipping to send out really fast? The Alchemist of Pop, that's what!

'Anybody Out There?' by The Dwarves. Yet another track that's basically just a blues song set to a punk beat, and yet it works for me in ways most blues songs simply don't. Funny what a difference slight variations can make.

Listening to John Williams' fantastic score from The Lost World and imagining my co-workers being torn apart by dinosaurs.
